Help us support Dream House

Dream House gives medically fragile children more than a vacation or a fond memory. We help these precious children fi nd their forever home and family for keeps!

- Laura O. Moore, Founder and CEO, Dream House for Medically Fragile Children, Inc.

Medically fragile children deserve a quality life, too!

Dream House is a children’s charity that teaches families and communities how to help kids with very complex health issues thrive in a home setting instead of being institutionalized for life.

Survive to Thrive

Medical technology saves more children than ever before, but for what kind of life?

Whether from disease, circumstances of birth, catastrophic injury or abuse, the conditions cross all diagnoses. What’s the common thread? These kids are medically fragile — dependent on lifesustaining treatments, medication, therapy or equipment to survive, and require help with activities of daily living.

Dream House is fueled by community support!

We have set the standard for home care of medically fragile children which will some day have a national impact. With community support statewide, Dream House makes it possible for these kids to leave the hospital sooner, keep them out of institutional care, and give them the home, family and future each one so desperately needs to survive. To date, Dream House has helped more than 900 medically fragile children in 40 of 159 Georgia counties!

Your donation at work.

We welcome your gifts — time, talent and fi nancial support. As a 501(c)3 charitable organization, Dream House relies solely on private contributions to fund programs and services for medically fragile children and their families throughout Georgia. Consistently demonstrating good stewardship, Dream House has been awarded the Independent Charities Seal of Excellence for which fewer than 2,000 of one million charities operating in the United States have received. Donate today!

Local Roots, Statewide Service, National Impact

Please continue to support Dream House efforts via major gifts, event sponsorships, local fund raisers and service projects so that medically fragile children in our communities have a chance to live at home instead of languishing for years in the hospital or an adult nursing facility.

A young man, forever trapped in a ventilator-dependent, quadriplegic body told me every day of the four years I cared for him as his nurse, "If I were a dog, you would have put me out of my misery. No one wants me. Why do you keep me alive? Why?"

- Laura O. Moore, Founder and CEO, Dream House for Medically Fragile Children, Inc.

Imagine being a homeless, medically fragile child...

Imagine being a child forever dependent on life-supporting treatments, medication, therapy or equipment to survive. Imagine being a child who has been abused, abandoned, or both. Imagine living in a hospital for months, even years, or worse yet, being forced to stay in an abusive, neglectful home because there is no other place to go. Imagine this situation repeated in every community throughout the United States.

Imagine being a child with no family, no future and no hope.

Thousands of medically fragile children are living this existence. After suffering an illness, accident, abuse or neglect, many have been abandoned by their families or removed from their homes and placed in state custody. The lack of trained foster families or state-supported group homes, capable of caring for their complex health care needs, force these children to remain in their abusive, neglectful homes or endure prolonged hospitalizations because there are no other options. Donate today!

All children want and need the same thing.

Dream House believes every child deserves the chance to be part of a loving home where they are cared for and valued. Yet for many medically fragile children, a home and family are just a dream. You can help us help these children start the journey toward their dream.

Dream House for Medically Fragile Children, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profi t organization. Our unique model of transition care increases the number of families and communities prepared to care for medically fragile children at home by:

  • Providing educational programs and unique teaching environments for families and care givers;
  • Assisting in the development of specially equipped and accessible homes;
  • Increasing community awareness about the lives and needs of medically fragile children; and
  • Creating opportunities for community and corporate partnerships focused on improving the quality of life for medically fragile children and their families.

Our vision — dramatically reduce the number of medically fragile children in foster care, improve the quality of life for these children and their families, and save state governments, the tax payers and health care institutions untold millions of dollars.

Together, we can give these special children a better life.

Dream House is making a difference for the future of these children, yet to do so has created many needs. Just like children, our needs come in many shapes and sizes. Visit us online or call us at 770-717-7410 today to learn more. Please help us spread the word and share our vision with others who may help make the dream come true! Donate today!
